An Introduction of Moot Court.







(1)Meaning of moot Court:
Organise artificial court for the law-students is called moot court .it is a kind of a debate on the specific case decided by the court or specific subject or issue or any imaginary case prepared for this purpose... (For more detail go to http://dhbhsh.blogspot.com/2011/06/moot-court.html )

(2) Elements of Moot Court:
(a)A Case/Matter/Compromises.
(b)Parties:
(c)Memorandum
(d)Judges

A Case:
A Case decided by the court will be selected. Or it may be an imaginary case .It may be criminal or civil case. Generally till 4th semester civil case is given. you can deal with Criminal cases after 4th semester.

Parties:

in Intra Faculty Moot you can choose respondent or petitioner side .This may happen that all participants choose any one side either respondent or petitioner. Here your personal legal skill will be evaluated, and marks will be given.

in National Moot you will have to prepare for both petitioner as well as respondent side.

Memorandum :
basically memorandum is written document which will be submitted by participants of moot .This will require students to visit the law- library, consult the law books journals and prepare points of arguments. It has predefine format.
Elements of Memorandum
1.Front Page(Name of the court concerned /or judges panel )
Contents
• List of abbreviates
• Index of authorities /Laws/Books/
• List of cases
• Jurisdiction
• Facts of the case /summaries
• Arguments /Advices
• Prayer.


Judges:
Judges will be Teachers/Bar Bench Members/Senior Advocates/Senior Students.

How to qualify in Intra Faculty Moot ?

• Preparation and presentation of a case is an art which is attained by practice
  • Facts should be selected and they should be remembered with accuracy .this will enable the mooter to supply the facts whenever he is required to supply
  • there should be research on the law of the matter
  • Relevant case Laws and text books should be studied.
  • avoid incorrect spelling and grammatical mistakes.
  • Content of should be comprehensive and precise.
